My Midlife Joy Experiment

How Play Is Helping Me Feel Alive Again
Have you ever looked up from your to-do list and wondered…When did all the fun disappear?
Somewhere between caregiving, deadlines, and trying to hold everything together, many of us forget what it feels like to play. To be present. To feel joy for no reason other than… joy.
In this solo episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of what I’m calling my Midlife Joy Experiment — a personal exploration of how adding more play into my daily life is helping me reconnect to energy, creativity, and that spark of “aliveness” I didn’t realize I was missing.
A few things I share:
🛼 How returning to roller skating after 40 years helped me feel like I was flying again
💥 Why breaking my elbow won’t stop me — and why I’ll be back on my skates soon
🖍️ What play looks like while I’m still healing (shuffle dancing + art journaling!)
🌱 Why grounding often comes before joy — and a simple “I’m noticing…” practice you can try anytime
✨ What I’m learning from experts like Martha Beck, Jill Bolte Taylor & Mel Robbins
This isn’t about being great at something or finding more things to be productive about.
This is about remembering what makes us come alive.
And while roller skating is my thing, my hope is that this conversation nudges you to explore yours — whatever makes time fly and brings a smile to your face before you even realize it.
